First, welcome to my blog. :)

Now here is something I'm working on:

As you can see it's an arctic fox surfing on an iceberg for the Annual Arctic Surf Slalom Contest. His friend the giant petrel is cheering him to victory.
So far, because of my poor English, all I could come up with is this lame "Go foxy!" (or maybe it should be foxie). And not to let the second bubble empty in the meantime, I decided to use the famous Maltzmania's "That's my dog".
So you English speaking people, help me find something cool this bird could say to the fox. Because I heard Threadless bloggers are always cool.

I love the fox and the bird btw.. but i think you need to work a little on the ice and water

   eskimokiss on Apr 06 '08 at 1:09am
ooh yeah!!
great idea. french is so sexy!

   nonolarson on Apr 06 '08 at 1:11am
But no one will understand it if it's in French! :p

And I wanted to draw the water and the ice only with lines, but hmm does it look so bad? :p I have no idea how I could improve it, not only I'm bad at English, but also at drawing.

i think you should keep "thats my dog"

hehehe this looks awesome
Maltzmania
Maltzmania on Apr 06 '08 at 1:19am
are you trying to be humorous?

you could have him saying "You're on fire!"
Maltzmania
Maltzmania on Apr 06 '08 at 1:20am
also the fact that you have a Chad Van Gaalen video in your profile is awesome

I knew you would post in this blog. :p

Also, something short would be better, not to have two giant bubbles with text everywhere.

I like "The heat is on" btw. "You can do it!" is cool too.
Does someone else think I should put something in French?

And yes Chad Van Gaalen is a genius.

in french you should just write "vite!"

that's hurry up, isn't it?
Maltzmania
Maltzmania on Apr 06 '08 at 1:27am
hehe you could say "fire fox!" or "FOX FIRE!!!"

but that's lame and too much like the web browser
nonolarson
   nonolarson on Apr 06 '08 at 1:31am
Haha I love "fire fox". And vite means rather "quick" than "hurry up", so that's a bit simple I think, at least in French.

ah, my french teacher always used to to mean "hurry up" when she was nagging us.

I always knew she was dumb. say "that's my dog" in french instead of in english. or, that's my fox, I guess.

I think your drawing is great. I love how the color is flying off of them. I actually quite like the minimalist iceberg and water. I sort of like that they wouldn't be saying anything. I suppose French would be the runner up because I can't understand anything in French except for what's written on my body wash.

"pour bain et douche"

all right!

   nonolarson on Apr 06 '08 at 1:42am
Haha I could definitely not say "c'est mon chien", it would have the meaning of "that's my slave"! and "c'est mon renard" would be... just weird! :p

Jet approves, does seeing ice make you feel cold :p, or is this something the bird should say, like "hurry up, end this contest quickly because I'm cold"?

is there an equivalent to "you're only a hop, skip, and a jump away!" in french? only shorter, probably.

   nonolarson on Apr 06 '08 at 3:10pm
Oh thanks all for your participation!

jet approves you made me learn a new idiom, didn't know it, I guess it would be "t'y es presque" in French.

SnakeMan I'm afraid that "au besoin on conna l'ami" doesn't mean anything :p

ofthecoast "I put it all on red" is cool but, if I do different color schemes it won't work anymore... and I just thought that arctic foxes are actually white... but who cares :p

Tonteau lol what's this grenouille and pamplemousse thing

DaniellesGarden "mon fido"? what? :p
Finally I think that "c'est mon chien" is rather funny even if it would be really weird to say this in the real life.

Btw it's snowing right now in Paris... what happened to spring?
DaniellesGarden
   DaniellesGarden on Apr 06 '08 at 3:39pm
fido used to be and maybe still is a popular name to call a dog.

SnakeMan
SnakeMan on Apr 06 '08 at 4:51pm
excusez-moi, i meant

"au besoin on connaît l'ami"

does that mean anything? i thought it was supposed to mean "when need comes, one knows one's friend" or something.

Thanks roadkilled! (did you do something on our little thing? ^^)

Farmer Bill, génial means "of genius, great, brilliant", nothing to do with genital lol.

SnakeMan, it could be translated into "c'est dans le besoin qu'on reconnaît ses amis".
Anyway I'm dead so I'm gonna sleep now.

Tonteau lol what's this grenouille and pamplemousse thing

----------

It was an obscure line from the simpsons. Lisa runs into the wrong school's french lesson and the kids are being taught the phrase "Le grenouille mange le pamplemousse".

It's a phrase I've always enjoyed.

Sadly I've never really watched the Simpsons. You're right though, what an enjoyable phrase.
